Admiral Mohab Mameesh, chairman of the Suez Canal Authority and Suez Canal economic zone stated that during the past 8 days, from last Thursday till this Thursday, a total of 424 vessels crossed the Suez Canal in both directions with a total load of 26 million tons.
The admiral assured that the rise in navigation witnessed by the Suez Canal in terms of number or load is firm evidence of the success of the new canal. He noted that the future vision of the Canals management lies in its development and deepening to attract vessels with bigger loads, as well as implementing flexible marketing strategies to attract new navigation lines.
The reports issued by the Suez Canal Authority show that 44 vessels crossed on Thursday with a total load of 3 million tons. 42 vessels crossed on Friday with a total load of 2.8 million tons, 51 vessels on Saturday with a total load of 3.3 million tons and 55 vessels crossed on Sunday with a total load of 3.5 million tons. On Monday 57 vessels crossed with a total loaf of 3.2 million tons, on Tuesday 57 vessels crossed with a total load of 3.2 million tons and 72 on Wednesday with a total load of 5 million tons. On the Thursday before yesterday, 43 vessels crossed carrying 2 million tons bringing the total number of vessels in the past 8 days to 424 vessels with a total load of 26 million tons.
