On Friday morning Admiral Mohab Mameesh , Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority and Suez Canal economic zone, welcomed Eng. Faraj Amer, Chairman of the Industry Committee at the House of Representatives, during their second day of their tour of the Economic Zone projects and the Suez Canal Authority as part of the follow-up of the projects of the region.
During the meeting of the members of the Industry Committee today, which took place in Ismailia, the Admiral stated that the new projects in the region are the cornerstone of implementing directives of the President of the Republic, starting from the development of the waterway and the implementation of a new canal. The Canal proved its significance for global trade, in being able to absorb new generations of giant vessels after it became a current world preference, thanks to the depth of the canal which reaches 25 meters.
Admiral Mameesh added that the project came at the right time because it restored Egyptian unity for being a national project of great significance to the Egyptian people throughout history. The project coincided with the economic zone project to establish life in this region and to establish integrated urban communities on the banks of the Suez Canal.
Mameesh noted that the public and political support of President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi, were the main the key of success, which was reflected in the revenues of the Suez Canal as they became a source of national income and foreign exchange.
During the meeting, a presentation was presented on the work of digging the new Suez Canal as well as a film about the economic zone of the Suez Canal. Following this presentation, the Admiral confirmed that despite the existence of this site for years, it was never put into good use, although it is a major international stage for Egypt. It’s all thanks to the real support, determination of the heroic President Abdul Fattah al-Sisi to restore the status of this exceptional site on the world map through 6 ports and industrial and logistic areas that reach 461 km in area.
The Admiral added that the current plan is to attract foreign investments in this exceptional site, and that’s the main objective of the current foreign tours based on of the desire of investors and businessmen to invest in the region due to the stable investment currently witnessed in Egypt.
Admiral Mameesh declared that the northern sector will witness the completion of the desalination plant, with a total capacity of 150 thousand m3 / day, during the current year in coordination with the Engineering Authority of the Armed Forces, while working to increase the production capacity of them to 250 thousand m 3 / day after the completion of the first phase.
He added that the first phase of the road plan in the northern sector of the new east Port Said will be completed with a length of 60 km long and a second phase of 40 kilometers with a total area of 100 km long.
As for the drainage station in east Port Said, the Admiral confirmed the presence of an existing treatment plant with a capacity of 500 m3 / day, confirming the completion of the first phase of the project of another treatment plant with a capacity of 150 thousand m3 /day by the end of 2020 and 4 lifting stations, irrigation systems as well as drainage networks.
In his speech, Eng. Faraj Amer, Chairman of the Industry Committee of the House of Representatives, expressed his thanks and appreciation on behalf of the Council of Representatives and its Chairman Dr. Ali Abdel-Al for the Suez Canal Authority and the economic zone of the Canal. He pointed out the miraculous accomplishments witnessed by the Canal, saying “We, as members of the House of Representatives, are witnessing the wisdom and determination of the political leadership of Egypt by the will of one man who united the Egyptian people under the project of the Suez Canal”
Amer praised the implementation rates of the region’s projects, pointing out that the strong will of the political leadership is one of the factors of the success of national projects in Egypt.
The Chairman of the Committee praised the vision of the Suez Canal Authority and the Economic Zone, which is represented by Admiral Mohab Mameesh, and his choice of assistants and his ability to resolve issues in the economic zone. He expressed his pride for the development process in this region and tunnels projects linking Sinai to the heart of the homeland that will eliminate terrorism in all its forms, stressing his support and support of the Committee to remove any obstacles that the industry may face in these projects. He assured that the deputies of the Council will work to provide all kinds of support for this region to raise its rank.
During his tour of the Suez Canal, Rep. Faraj Amer, Chairman of the Committee, said that the work pace of national projects is an indication of Egyptian’s determination. The success is reflected in the implementation and completion rate of Ismailia tunnels, the industrial zone and the new berths in east Port Said, which will be one of the most domineering central ports in the world.
The Chairman of the Committee expressed his appreciation for the Admiral’s efforts in managing the two bodies for the development of the national economy.
For his part, Rep. Mohammed Mustafa Al-Sallab, the representative of the Industry Committee of the Council, praised what he witnessed in his tour yesterday of the implementation rates in the new east Port Said berths. This historical achievement was carried out by the Egyptian hands in less than 24 months and the drilling of the side canal of the port in 70 days which will benefit the economic development of the Suez Canal and make it a global center.
Rep. Evelyn Boutros, a member of the House of Representatives Industry Committee, praised the giant national projects currently being established in Egypt, particularly the projects of the economic zone of the Suez Canal and east Port Said such as new berths with 5 km in length, as well as increasing the trading areas, and all the projects in progress in the industrial area.
She also praised the treatment and the improvement of the soil in east Port Said as well as the processing of infrastructure, which will attract investments, whether local or foreign.
The deputy praised the new tunnels that facilitate the movement of goods and individuals, which will be a main link between the cities of the Canal and Sinai and thus achieve the aspired development. She added that Sinai was neglected for years but thanks to the determination of the political leadership and its wise vision, we succeeded in eradicating terrorism, developing Sinai as well as creating job opportunities for Sinai youth.
