Mameesh Receives Benin Delegation and Assures that Egypt is Capable of Organizing Global Events

Admiral Mohab Mameesh, Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority and Head of the Economic Zone, received today the National Football Team of Benin participating in AFCON 2019 hosted by Egypt from June 21 to July 19.

Admiral Mohab Mameesh expressed his happiness with this visit and welcomed the presence of the National team members of “Benin” and the staff members of the technical and administrative department headed by Francis Jebian, First Vice-President of the Benin Football Federation, and Ibrahim Imoro, the Sports Director and Representative of the Minister of Sports in Benin.

Admiral Mameesh emphasized Egypt’s success in organizing the African Championship. “Undoubtedly, Egypt has the ability to organize regional and global events,” said Mameesh. He thanked President Abd Al-Fatah Al-Sisi for his limitless support as he followed up all arrangements and procedures. He added that all state institutions cooperated with the Championship Organizing Committee to present an accurately organized performance and to strengthen relationships with African people.

Admiral Mameesh explained that the Suez Canal Authority directed all its potentials to host the African teams in Ismailia. It provided logistic support represented in the preparation of transportation means, medical care, living accommodations and hospitality. He pointed out that he was keen on attending all football matches held at Ismailia stadiums. He also praised the good manners of both the Egyptian and African audience, wishing our National Team the very best of luck and success.

Francis Jebian, First Vice-President of the Benin Football Federation, praised the effort exerted in organizing the African Championship. He also expressed his appreciation concerning the warm reception he finds in Egypt. He added that all means of accommodations and logistic procedures necessary for the organization are present in Egypt. He also assured that all African teams have given good impressions since the beginning of the Championship. He expects that such positive impressions and good memories will last even after the end of this regional event.

Moreover, while cruising the new channel of the Suez Canal, Jebian expressed his admiration for such an achievement assuring Egypt’s ability to face challenges and create miracles. The Egyptians could complete the work of the new navigational passage in just one year, a relatively short time for such a huge task. He also praised the organization of AFCON 2019 at the state level and the Egyptian audience’s refined manner and attitude.

At the end of the visit, Admiral Mohab Mameesh presented the New Suez Canal Shield to both Francis Jebian, First Vice-President of the Benin Football Federation, and Ibrahim Imoro, the Sports Director and Representative of the Minister of Sports in Benin.

The visit included cruising the New Suez Canal to see the great achievement on the ground.
